Southside Flooring is a family run flooring business working across South East Melbourne. We manage your job ourselves from the first measure through to the last skirting board, so you always deal with the same point of contact and know exactly who is responsible for the result.
That matters more than it sounds. Most flooring problems are not product problems. They come from a slab that was never moisture tested. A floating floor with no expansion gap. A carpet that was not power stretched. A subfloor that was never levelled. We manage every stage of your job closely, so those faults never make it into your house.

We test the slab before we order the floor
Concrete moisture testing is a line item on our quotes, not an afterthought. It is the single most common cause of flooring failure and the easiest one to avoid.
Fixed price quotes, fully itemised

We tell you when a product is wrong
If hybrid is not the right pick for a dry living area, we say so at the quote. Same if timber is wrong for your slab. You hear it before the floor goes down, not after.

Stairs and the fiddly parts done properly
Stairs are the hardest part of any flooring job and where cheap quotes come unstuck. Treads, risers, winders and landings, in timber or carpet.
We leave it clean
Old flooring lifted and taken away, offcuts cleared, trims and scotia fitted, site swept and care instructions explained before we drive off.
The finished photo is the easy part
Most of a flooring job happens before the first board goes down. This is what a typical install actually looks like.
1. Test the slab
Concrete gives off moisture for months after it is poured. We test it before we order a single box of product. A wet slab is what cups timber and lifts vinyl a year later.
2. Strip and prepare
We pull up the old covering, underlay, smoothedge and glue and take it away. Then we grind, patch and level the subfloor. Nothing shows through the new floor.
3. Install and finish
Boards or carpet laid to the maker’s spec, with the right expansion gaps. Stairs and thresholds finished by hand. Trims fitted and the site left clean.

Old flooring removed, new floor laid to manufacturer specification, stairs and thresholds finished by hand.

Clean handover
Trims and scotia fitted, old flooring taken away, site cleaned and care instructions explained before we leave.

What flooring do you supply and install?

Which floor is best for a house with kids and pets?
For hard flooring, hybrid is usually the answer. It is waterproof for accidents, the wear layer resists claw scratching and the rigid core does not swell. For bedrooms, solution dyed nylon carpet handles stains and traffic better than anything else at the price.
Do you remove and dispose of the old flooring?
Yes. Our quotes include lifting the old carpet, underlay, tile or floating floor and taking it away. Just tell us if you would rather do that part yourself.
What is a Quick-Step Master Installer?
Quick-Step is a big European flooring maker. Master Installer is their accreditation. To get it, an installer has to finish their training in installation technique, product knowledge and customer service. It means your floor is laid to the standard Quick-Step needs for their warranty.
How long does a flooring installation take?
A single room is usually a few hours. A three or four bedroom home takes one to three days. It depends on the product and how much subfloor prep is needed. We give you a realistic timeframe with the quote, not an optimistic one.
Do you work with builders and commercial clients?
